The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office in a news release confirmed that a 17-year-old boy from Grand Rapids died after he fell from a fourth-floor balcony.

The sheriff’s office was called by someone staying in a nearby condominium, who noticed a body near an entryway in Destin just after 4 a.m. Tuesday, according to WPEC.

When first responders arrived, they located the boy and he was pronounced dead, the news outlet reported.

Our sincere prayers go out to the family and friends of the young man in this tragic loss,” the sheriff’s office said in the news release.

Investigators said they were working to get more information about the “tragic spring break death.” The sheriff’s office said that alcohol may be a factor in the death.
