Matthew McConaughey meets Pope Leo XIV

Actor Matthew McConaughey and his wife, Camila Alves McConaughey, were part of the pope’s general audience this week.

Pope Leo XIV shook the actor’s and his wife’s hands and posed for a photo in St. Peter’s Basilica in Vatican City, People magazine reported.

The pontiff and the actor spoke briefly, as seen in a video shared by The Associated Press.

McConaughey and his wife have been spending time in Italy as he filmed his Netflix movie “Positano,” People said.
