Before Cousin Jerry King rides off into the sunset of his well-earned retirement, we thought we’d get him to share a few stories from his amazing 53 years of radio broadcasting. He’s got some fantastic stories to tell, and some we probably can’t tell on the radio or on video!

First up, the story everyone asks about: The time George Strait got his first ever solo song played on the radio!

No one knew who he was, Cousin knew him from his Ace in the Hole Band days, and this was the first solo song George recorded in Nashville, “Unwound”. He came down from San Marcos, and brought the 45 with him to give to Jerry. Check out the video to find out what happened next.
