With people tapped out after the holidays, right now is one of the best times of the year to buy travel.
Airlines offer discounts this time of year, especially mid-priced ones like JetBlue, Southwest, and Virgin America. By many accounts, Virgin America is the best airline in the U.S.
So where should you look to go? Think Hawaii.
Hawaiian Airlines is offering a series of deals pricing out from $380 to $390 roundtrip from the West Coast to Hawaii. That’s not the best price, but it is still pretty good. If you’re in Southern California, Allegiant Air is offering $298 roundtrip to Hawaii.
Meanwhile, right now we’re in the midst of what used to be called "Wave Week" and what’s now called “Wave Season.” It’s the time of year when cruise lines typically sell out a huge percent of cabins for the coming season.
So if you are somebody who likes to cruise, this is a good time. You’ll get a lot of upgrades, waivers, and on board credits. But the last minute booking deals are the best way to save the most money on a cruise.
