Do you enjoy collecting rocks, minerals or fossils? Interested in unusual jewelry? Once you have seen the inside of a geode and gazed upon the marvelous crystals inside, you will probably be HOOKED! Join the Sequoia Gem & Mineral Society (SGMS) as they hold the 46th Annual Harvest of Gems and Minerals on Saturday and Sunday, September 21 and 22, from 10am to 5pm at the Red Morton Community Activities Building, 1400 Roosevelt Ave. in Redwood City. Admission is $3 (children 12 and under are free when accompanied by an adult). Parking is free. Find beautiful rock slabs for creating your own items or even a perfect rock for your garden. Unusual jewelry and other things will be available for sale through reputable and knowledgeable dealers specializing in gold and silver jewelry, beads, faceted stones, slabs and rough rock, lapidary equipment, wire wrapped jewelry, minerals and more.Children will have an opportunity to polish a stone to keep afterwards and turn into a special necklace they’ll treasure forever. This family friendly event could create a new, wholesome hobby of collecting rocks! Several unique displays will showcase our members’ special interests in lapidary (stone cutting and polishing). You could see jewelry, clocks, stone boxes, bookends, marbles, or fabulous collections of minerals and fossils. Some of the fantastic materials you may see are agate, jasper, jade, opal, lapis and other unbelievable mineral specimens, including fossils that are millions of years old—such as whale and dinosaur bones. There are so many colors and patterns that come from our earth, it is mindboggling!Find your own wonders from the Earth and join us at our Gem and Mineral show!
