Curator David S. Rubin interviews Norman Rene Avila, Donjon Evans, and George Horner, the founders of SAMOMA (San Antonio Museum of Modern Art). One of San Antonios first artist-run spaces, SAMOMA presented exhibitions in two San Antonio locations from 1976-79. Many of the artists went on to earn wider recognition, and are included in the exhibition Artists of SAMOMA from the SAMA Collection, on view from February 9 through May 26 in the Contemporary Galleries.
